Nib Privacy Policy
The short version
Nib works entirely on your iPhone. Your documents, scans and signatures never leave your device unless you choose to share or export them. We don't run servers for the app, we don't ask you to create an account, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. We cannot see your documents, and we don't want to.
Who we are
Nib is made by Suzani. For the purposes of data protection law, the controller is [Legal name of the developer], [City, Country]. You can reach us at support@suzani.app.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Nib is stored only in the app's private storage on your iPhone:
- documents you import, scan or photograph, and the changes you make to them;
- your signatures and initials;
- text and dates you add to pages;
- your settings, such as the Face ID lock.
This data is protected by iOS Data Protection and is not accessible to other apps. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. It stays on your device until you delete it in the app or delete the app.
What we don't collect
We don't collect, store or receive:
- the content of your documents, scans, signatures or initials;
- your name, email address, phone number or any account details;
- your location, contacts or browsing history;
- device identifiers, advertising identifiers or usage analytics.
Nib does not use third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising or crash reporting, and it does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
Access to your iPhone
- Camera — only to scan paper documents when you tap Scan. Images are processed on your device and become pages of your document.
- Photos — Nib uses the system photo picker and does not ask for access to your library. The app receives only the photos you select.
- Files — when you open or save a PDF, you choose the file or folder in the system file browser. The app gets access only to that file.
- Face ID or Touch ID — if you turn on the app lock, iOS checks your face or fingerprint. The app only learns whether the check succeeded. Your biometric data never leaves the Secure Enclave and is never available to us.
You can change camera and Face ID access at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, email address or payment details. The app checks your purchase on the device using Apple's StoreKit to unlock features. Apple's handling of your purchase is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sharing, exporting and printing
When you share, save or print a document, it goes to the app, service or printer you choose, such as Mail, Messages, Files or AirDrop. From that moment the privacy policy of that destination applies. Nib does not send a copy anywhere else.
Backups
If iCloud Backup is turned on for your iPhone, iOS includes Nib's data in your encrypted device backup, as it does for most apps. This backup is created and stored by Apple under your Apple Account. We have no access to it. You can manage backups in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › iCloud Backup.
Crash reports
If you turned on "Share With App Developers" in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and performance data with us. These reports don't contain your documents or personal information. We use them only to find and fix bugs. You can turn this off at any time.
When you contact us
If you write to us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach, such as the app version or a screenshot. We use this only to answer you and to fix the problem you report. We keep support conversations for up to 12 months after the conversation ends and then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
Please don't send us documents that contain sensitive personal information. If you need to show us a problem with a file, a screenshot with the content hidden is usually enough.
How long we keep data and how to delete it
- On your device: you control it. Delete a document or signature in the app, or delete the app to remove all of its data. Deleted documents cannot be recovered by us, because we never had a copy.
- Support emails: up to 12 months after the conversation ends, or sooner on request.
- Purchases: kept by Apple according to its own policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Union, the United Kingdom and California, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the app doesn't send us your data, in practice this applies only to support emails. To use any of these rights, write to support@suzani.app. If you live in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We process support emails on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering your request (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined in California law.
Children
Nib is a general-audience productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Your data is protected by your iPhone's passcode, iOS Data Protection and, if you turn it on, the app's Face ID lock. Because there is no server and no account, there is no online database of your documents that could be breached.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and update the date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we will also mention it in the app's release notes.
